Who Is An Ex-Offender?
An ex-offender is someone who has been convicted of a criminal offense and has completed their sentence either in prison or within the community. There is a particular need to help ex-offenders regain self-esteem and dignity, as well as sustain access to high-quality training and gain the ability to maintain high-quality employment characterized by progressively increasing skills, responsibility, and rewards.
Ex-offenders face a range of barriers typical of many others, including health problems.
There is a specific and peculiar challenge that ex-offenders face when seeking employment, which is the disclosure of their past criminal record to employers in a positive and constructive way. Statistics reveal that by the age of 30, one in three men, especially from Black and Asian communities, will have a criminal record for offenses other than those related to monitoring.
